Overview
The Director's Role for Health and Safety (DRHS) is a one-day interactive course that has been designed for company directors and senior managers active in a health and safety strategic role in the built environment, with the aim of recognising directors’ duties of care and the implications of non-compliance with health and safety legislation.
This mandatory pre-requisite eLearning must be completed before attending the trainer-led course.

Who is it for?
Delegates who have signed up for a trainer-led Director’s Role for Health and Safety (DRHS) – this includes both classroom and remotely delivered courses.
Course
What does it cover?
This mandatory pre-requisite eLearning focusses on leadership and worker engagement, and health and safety law.
The eLearning looks at the following topics:
- The cost and impacts of accidents in the workplace
- Health and safety law
- Absolute, practicable and reasonably practicable duties
- Advice and guidance available for directors
- The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- The laws and regulations associated with the Health and Safety Act
- Putting the above into practice in a working environment
Its completion ensures all delegates start with a minimum level of understanding.
What are the benefits of learning online?
The interactive course takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete, but you don’t have to do it all at once. You can close the eLearning at any time and, on your return, pick up where you left off. Your progress will be saved automatically. We recommend that you sit the course in 30 minute chunks.

What qualification will I get?
Completing the eLearning is a mandatory pre-requisite to attending the trainer-led Director’s Role for Health and Safety (DRHS).
Successful completion of DRHS requires a delegate to:
- Complete the eLearning
- Pass the end of eLearning assessment
- Attend the trainer-led course
- Pass the trainer review
- Pass the end of course assessment.
What does the end of eLearning examination involve?
The assessment consists of 10 multiple choice questions with a total score of 10 (each question is worth 1 mark). You must obtain a minimum 80% to pass, You have 15 minutes to complete the assessment and have unlimited attempts to do so.

To complete the interactive course you need a reliable internet connection and a desktop computer, laptop or standard-sized tablet (eCourses are not supported on mobile handsets).
